Creating A Sample Libary Assignment Task 1 : Game Soundtrack Analysis (Diablo 3)



1.  How you think the sound in your chosen example has been produced (production techniques)
I believe the soundtrack was produced by using live audio recording of a live orchestra. The orchestra doesn’t use one predominant instrument but use all different instruments in accompany with each other. I believe it also includes a live voice recording of either a male or female harmonised singer. It does also include a lot of backing vocals within this piece but mainly the male or female harmonised singer.
2.  What post-production techniques have been used to create the soundtrack (using subject specific terminology)
I believe that the soundtrack has used a mixer to combine the live environmental audio recordings and the voice recordings. I believe it is made completely untouched and no computer generated sounds or effects are used on this soundtrack at all.

3.  How the sound design of your chosen examples might enhance the gaming experience for audiences.
This Soundtrack is soft and melodised at the beginning but slowly intensifies into a huge crescendo just before the soundtrack comes to a close. After this climax it does slow back down and turn back to a melody before the track finishes. This compliments the game well and gives the player a sense that they are one with the game and uses the ending climax to induce adrenalin within the player while playing this game.
